About First Galena

Founded in 1981, First Galena remains a family-owned and operated business.  We have two divisions: home building and real estate.  Both are operated out of our model home at 9332 Hwy. 20 West in Galena.

Since 1991, First Galena has built their business by constructing quality homes using modular system-built technology.  Since then, we have perfected the art of system-built technologies and earned two national building system design awards for homes in the Galena Territory and Apple Canyon Lake.

Meet Our Team

Deborah Studtmann

Deborah Studtmann is a licensed architect in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Florida.  She is a graduate of IIT and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Deborah specializes in new residential construction.  Since she moved to the area in 1979, she has designed and built over 500 homes in the Tri-State area.

Paul Studtmann

Paul Studtmann began his career as a real estate broker in 1980.  Paul realized the resale market didn't always have what buyers were looking for, so in 1991 he researched alternatives and added modular home building to First Galena's services.  Later in 1991, the first model was built in Galena which quickly helped to establish First Galena as the new home provider for the area.  Today, Paul is the managing broker for First Galena, specializing in new residential homes and residential home sites.

Nathan Studtmann

Nathan Studtmann grew up in the family business.  He is also a real estate broker, but specializes in designing and building new custom homes.  Nathan earned his college degree in business & marketing.  In his spare time (which is very limited) Nathan is also a PGA pro.

Bill Palmer

Before Bill Palmer joined First Galena in 1994, he was operating as a skilled carpenter, general contractor and homebuilder in the Freeport market.  Initially, Bill was hired to build a custom staircase for our golf course model home.  Eighteen years later, Bill is still a loyal employee and now finishes the on-site marriaging of the modules, custom carpentry and any service or warranty work that is needed.
